Ex-Tottenham defender Ramon Vega to challenge Infantino for FIFA presidency

Original: ramon vega

Ramon Vega, the former Tottenham and Switzerland defender, has announced he will run against Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency. Vega, who went into finance after retiring from football, is positioning himself as a reform candidate for world football's governing body. The challenge sets up a contest against the long-standing incumbent, though details of his campaign platform remain limited.

Why now: A former professional footballer launching a bid to unseat FIFA's president is a notable and unexpected development in world football.
