A retired Australian couple has won a legal battle against a major coal company, in a case being compared to the beloved Australian film The Castle, about an ordinary family fighting to save their home from corporate power. Commentators are hailing the outcome as a rare grassroots victory over the resources industry and a symbol of ordinary Australians standing up to big polluters.
Why now: The story resonates because it echoes the iconic David-versus-Goliath narrative of The Castle at a time of heightened concern over coal and climate issues in Australia.
