Wembanyama reportedly avoiding American media ahead of new NBA season
Original: Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama reportedly icing out American media ahead of NBA season
Reports say San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is limiting or refusing interviews with American media outlets as the new NBA season approaches. The story is drawing attention because Wembanyama is one of the league's biggest draws, and a media blackout from a franchise player would be unusual. Details on the extent of the avoidance and his reasons have not been confirmed by the Spurs or the player himself.
Why now: Wembanyama is a superstar whose reported media silence is unusual and raises questions about his relationship with the press before the season.
