Officer missing for 10 years dismissed after one day of duty
Original: अधिकारी
An assistant district savings officer in India who had been absent without leave for ten years has had his services terminated after returning for just one day of duty. The case has drawn attention to how government employees can remain on payrolls for years without working, and questions are being raised about why disciplinary action took so long.
Why now: The unusual case of an official staying absent for a decade before being dismissed is drawing public interest.
