Rubio to Tie Ancient Greek Values to 'America First' in Athens Speech
Original: Rubio to Link Ancient Greek Values to 'America First' Speech in Athens
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to deliver a speech in Athens framing 'America First' foreign policy through the lens of ancient Greek values. The address will reportedly argue that ideals such as democracy and self-determination, rooted in classical Greece, underpin the current administration's approach to international relations during his visit to Greece.
Why now: The unusual pairing of ancient Greek philosophy with the 'America First' doctrine makes the speech a talking point in coverage of Rubio's diplomatic visit.
