Paxton says Iran war weighs on Texas Senate campaign
Original: Paxton: Iran war a drag on Texas Senate campaign
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, running for the US Senate, said the war with Iran is becoming a drag on his campaign. The comment ties a foreign conflict to domestic midterm politics, drawing attention to how national security issues are shaping the Texas race and Republican messaging.
Why now: Paxton's framing of an ongoing war as a campaign liability is striking in the middle of a contested Senate race.
