Climate change making marathon race days hotter and harder
Original: Marathon conditions becoming less ideal as climate change warms race days, including Sunday
Rising temperatures are degrading ideal marathon conditions, with the Chicago Tribune reporting that Sunday's race is among those affected by warming weather. Warmer race days make times slower, hydration harder, and health risks greater for runners. The report reflects a broader trend of once-cool autumn marathon weekends increasingly trending above optimal running temperatures.
Why now: A major marathon is happening Sunday under warmer-than-ideal conditions, prompting discussion of climate impacts on the sport
