Vatican family summit opens as Italy expands family services
Original: famiglia
Pope Francis opened a Vatican summit on the family, saying not everyone follows the Church's line on sexuality and urging greater listening to families. In parallel, Italy's welfare agency INPS announced new services on its Family and Parenthood portal, including geolocation tools and new observatories to support parents. Together the stories put family policy and Church teaching back at the centre of Italian debate.
Why now: The Pope's remarks on sexuality at the Vatican family summit are prompting wide reaction, alongside new Italian family support services.
