Jon Rahm reportedly leaving LIV Golf in major blow to tour
Original: Jon Rahm leaving LIV, dealing significant blow to bankrupt golf tour’s future - The Athletic
Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is leaving LIV Golf, according to a report by The Athletic, dealing what the outlet describes as a significant blow to the tour's future. The Saudi-backed circuit, which has faced persistent financial and organisational questions, signed Rahm in a blockbuster deal in late 2023, and his reported exit is being framed as a major setback for its credibility and viability.
Why now: Rahm was LIV Golf's marquee signing, so news of his departure raises fresh doubts about the tour's survival.
