Doral residents urge city to end immigration enforcement agreement
Original: Doral residents push city leaders to end immigration enforcement agreement
Residents of Doral, Florida are pressing city leaders to terminate the city's agreement allowing federal immigration enforcement to operate locally. The push reflects growing tension in the South Florida community, which has a large Venezuelan and Latino population, over cooperation between local authorities and immigration authorities. It remains unclear how city officials will respond to the demands.
Why now: Ongoing national debate over local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement is driving community action.
