Tabarzadi urges democratic governments to uphold human rights in practice
Original: Article: Tabarzadi: Democratic governments must uphold human rights in practice
Iranian activist Hamed Tabarzadi has called on democratic governments to uphold human rights in practice rather than only in principle, according to remarks published by Iran Human Rights. The statement argues that Western democracies should hold governments accountable for abuses, particularly in Iran, instead of limiting their commitments to rhetoric.
Why now: Ongoing attention to human rights abuses in Iran is prompting calls for democratic states to respond with concrete action.
