FBI says it thwarted teen's Mall of America attack plot
Original: FBI says it stopped a Mall of America terror attack by a teen after agents sold him an assault rifle
The FBI says it disrupted a planned terror attack on the Mall of America in Minnesota by a teenager, in an operation in which undercover agents sold him an assault rifle before making an arrest. News organisations across the United States, including the AP and NBC News, are carrying the report, and the unusual detail of agents providing the weapon is drawing attention and debate.
Why now: The FBI's announcement that its own agents supplied the rifle in the sting has made the case a major and controversial story.
