California heat wave to end with cooldown and possible Sierra snow
Original: California heat wave to give way to sharp cooldown, possible Sierra snow
Forecasters in California expect the ongoing heat wave to break, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures across the state. The cooldown could be strong enough to deliver early-season snow in the Sierra Nevada. Residents are watching the rapid swing from extreme heat to much cooler conditions, with mountain snow a notable possibility for this time of year.
Why now: The unusual swing from a heat wave to possible mountain snow is striking weather for the region.
