Section within RSS calls for election commissioner's resignation
Original: Live breaking news: a section within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of India’s right-wing
Breaking reports say a faction within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological parent of India's ruling BJP, is demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The claim was shared by journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, citing a source speaking on condition of anonymity. No official confirmation has emerged from the RSS or the Election Commission of India, and the reasons behind the reported demand remain unstated.
Why now: An internal rift involving the RSS and a sitting Chief Election Commissioner would be a major political development, driving intense attention.
