Encore casino patrons cross picket line despite supporting strike
Original: ‘I never thought I would cross a picket line’: Some Encore patrons who support strike still want to gamble
Some patrons of Encore Boston Harbor say they support the workers' strike but are still entering the casino to gamble, with one admitting they never expected to cross a picket line. The comments highlight a tension between sympathy for striking workers and visitors' reluctance to give up gambling, entertainment and dining plans during the labor dispute.
Why now: A casino workers' strike is underway and patrons' willingness to cross the picket line is drawing public debate over labor solidarity.
