Emmy Awards to move to Amazon Prime Video from 2027
Original: primevideo
The Emmy Awards will leave open television in the United States and be broadcast on Amazon's Prime Video starting in 2027, according to Reuters. Brazilian outlets are also noting the news alongside Prime Video content coverage, including features on Stephen King adaptations such as Carrie. Commentators see the move as another sign of streaming platforms taking over events traditionally shown on network TV.
Why now: The announcement that a major US television institution is moving to a streaming service is fresh industry news.
