The United Nations has still not decided who will succeed Secretary-General António Guterres. In a fifth straw poll, the fifteen member states of the Security Council again failed to produce a clear front-runner for the post. The selection process remains open, with candidates vying to lead the organisation when Guterres steps down.

Why now: The Security Council's fifth inconclusive vote leaves the race for the UN's top job undecided, keeping attention on the candidates.
