UN peacekeepers report shots fired at Israeli border post in Lebanon
Original: UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon says shots fired at Israeli border post
The UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, says shots were fired at an Israeli border post along the Blue Line separating Lebanon and Israel. No casualties have been confirmed so far. The incident adds to tensions along the border, where UN forces have repeatedly reported violations of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Why now: Ongoing Israel-Hezbollah tensions make any cross-border incident along the Blue Line a fresh flashpoint.
