US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking in Greece, called on European nations to wake from what he described as a 'slumber' and take greater responsibility for upholding Western dominance. His remarks, reported by the New York Times, covered defense spending and immigration, pressing European allies to strengthen their own security capabilities and act more assertively on the global stage.
Why now: Rubio's pointed critique of Europe's defense posture and migration policies is fueling debate over transatlantic burden-sharing.
