Margaret Hamilton, the computer scientist whose onboard flight software made the Apollo 11 moon landing possible, has died at the age of 90. Hamilton led the team at MIT that developed the guidance software for NASA's Apollo programme, famously helping the lunar module survive an overload during the 1969 landing. She later coined the term 'software engineering' and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
