Marchers set out from Seattle on Wednesday on a four-day pilgrimage to the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, protesting mass deportations. The walk is organised by Japanese American groups, who are drawing on their community's history of wartime incarceration to highlight the treatment of immigrants in US detention facilities.
Why now: Ongoing public anger over mass deportations and ICE detention practices is driving renewed protest action in the Seattle-Tacoma region.
