Ukrainian intelligence names Russian archaeologists at Crimean sites
Original: HUR publishes details of Russian archaeologists involved in excavations at Tauric Chersonesus and Myrmekion The Ukrainia
Ukraine's Defence Ministry Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) has published details of five people it says are involved in illegal archaeological excavations at Tauric Chersonesus and Myrmekion, sites in Russian-occupied Crimea. Kyiv frames the digs as unlawful activity conducted under occupation, and the disclosure adds to its pattern of naming individuals working in annexed territories.
Why now: Ukraine's intelligence service rarely names individual archaeologists, so the publication of five names draws attention to contested heritage work in occupied Crimea.
