BJD joins Odisha bandh against Chief Election Commissioner
Original: odisha bandh
A bandh is under way in Odisha as part of protests against the Chief Election Commissioner. The BJD has joined the demonstration, prompting the BJP to question the party's claimed equidistance from both the ruling and opposition alliances. The protest has drawn attention across the state, with political parties trading accusations over the BJD's shifting stance and the growing opposition campaign against the election body.
Why now: A statewide shutdown and the BJD's decision to join an opposition-led protest have made the story politically contentious in Odisha.
