Original: Mike Flanagan's Carrie series
Filmmaker Mike Flanagan is developing a series adaptation of Stephen King's debut novel Carrie. The horror story, first published in 1974 and famously filmed by Brian De Palma in 1976, follows a telekinetic teenage girl. Fans of Flanagan's earlier Stephen King work are debating how a longer episodic format will handle the material.
Why now: News of the adaptation just dropped, prompting fresh debate about yet another retelling of a horror classic
