Original: DNA Puts Humans in the Americas at the Height of the Last Ice Age, but the Debate Isn't Over https://gizmodo.com/dna-put
New genetic evidence points to humans being present in the Americas at the height of the last Ice Age, challenging long-held timelines for when people first arrived on the continents. Gizmodo reports that while the DNA findings are striking, the debate over the peopling of the Americas remains unsettled, with researchers continuing to argue over dates, migration routes and how the genetic record fits with archaeological evidence.
Why now: New DNA research is challenging established timelines for when humans first arrived in the Americas, a long-running scientific controversy.
