Pixel Face Unlock may soon rival Apple's Face ID
Original: Pixel's Face Unlock could match iPhone's Face ID if discovered code is legitimate
Code discovered in Google's software suggests Pixel phones could get a significantly more secure face unlock system, potentially matching the depth-based facial recognition that Apple offers with Face ID on iPhones. Current Pixel Face Unlock relies on a camera alone and is considered less secure. If the code is legitimate, Google may be preparing hardware-backed facial biometrics for a future Pixel release.
Why now: Reports of newly discovered code suggest Google may be upgrading Pixel facial recognition to iPhone-level security.
