Campaigners urge Sadiq Khan to drop Harry Potter Christmas lights

Original: 🚨If @MayorofLondon Sadiq Khan is a trans ally, why is he allowing JK Rowling’s Harry Potter to take over the # Christmas

Activists are calling on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to cancel a Harry Potter-themed Christmas lights display at Oxford Circus, arguing it conflicts with his support for trans rights given JK Rowling's stances on gender issues. Critics of the campaign see it as pressuring public bodies over an author's personal views, and the row has reignited debate over Rowling's place in public celebrations.

Why now: The intersection of a high-profile trans-rights dispute with a major public Christmas event in London is drawing strong reactions from both sides.
