The European Union has disbursed €1.24 billion to Ukraine under an initiative to support its defence industry, with the funds earmarked for drones and missiles. The payment continues the EU's financial backing of Ukraine's war effort against Russia, channelling money toward weapons production and procurement as fighting continues.
Why now: The disbursement is newsworthy as it shows continued large-scale EU military financing for Ukraine amid the ongoing war.
