Monbiot questions stockpiling advice for environmental catastrophe
Original: Stockpile food – and wash your hands: is that really how to prepare for environmental catastrophe? | George Monbiot
George Monbiot examines whether stockpiling food and hand-washing are genuinely adequate ways to prepare for environmental catastrophe. Writing in The Guardian, he weighs practical survival advice against the larger systemic forces driving ecological breakdown, suggesting such individual measures may be beside the point. His argument is likely to spark debate about how people should respond to climate and environmental risks.
Why now: A prominent environmental commentator is challenging mainstream preparedness advice amid growing concern about ecological collapse.
