Britons 'kept in dark' about scale of climate crisis, briefing viewers say
Original: Britons kept in dark about scale of climate crisis, say viewers of ‘first-of-its-kind’ emergency briefing
Viewers of what is described as a first-of-its-kind emergency briefing on the climate crisis say the British public is being kept in the dark about the true scale of the emergency. The briefing prompted claims that mainstream coverage has understated the severity of climate change and its consequences for the UK. The Guardian reported on the event, which organisers present as an unprecedented public information effort.
Why now: A high-profile emergency climate briefing has reignited debate about whether British media and government communicate the full severity of the climate crisis.
