EU Council approves pesticide renewals without fresh safety review
Original: Achtung, jetzt wird es giftig: ⚠️ 25 Jahre Pestizid-Zulassungen ohne Neubewertung und Kontrollen?!? https:// umweltinsti
The Umweltinstitut reports that EU member states have backed an omnibus decision allowing around 25 years of pesticide active-ingredient approvals to stand without new assessment or controls. The group says the move extends authorisations for toxic chemicals without updated safety checks, and environmental advocates are criticising it as a rollback of EU chemical and food safety standards under industry pressure.
Why now: Environmental groups are sounding the alarm over a fresh EU Council decision on pesticide authorisations.
