Pet Shop Boys honor Alan Turing on ambitious new album
Pet Shop Boys have released an ambitious new album that pays tribute to Alan Turing, the British mathematician and WWII codebreaker. The duo frame the record as a homage to Turing's life and legacy, drawing attention to his persecution and lasting influence on computing. Coverage highlights the unusual choice of subject for a pop record and the duo's continued willingness to take on large conceptual projects late in their career.
Why now: The novelty of a major pop duo dedicating a new album to Alan Turing is drawing fresh attention to both the band and Turing's legacy.
