Amateur radio row over Russian stations in UK contests

Original: SHOULD RUSSIAN STATIONS BE ALLOWED BACK INTO RSGB CONTESTS? TO SUPPORT UKRAINE — PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION From 1 January

A dispute is brewing in UK amateur radio after the Radio Society of Great Britain announced that from 1 January 2027 its contests will be open to all licensed radio amateurs regardless of nationality or location, which would readmit Russian stations. Opponents have launched a petition calling for an Extraordinary General Meeting to reverse the decision, framing it as a show of support for Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing war there.

Why now: Amateur radio operators are divided over whether Russian stations should compete in UK contests while the war in Ukraine continues.
