Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize Recognition
Original: Why Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms Should Win the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize
Calls are growing for Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms, volunteer networks that deliver food, medical aid and evacuation support to civilians caught in the country's civil war, to be awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Supporters argue the grassroots groups have done lifesaving work where state institutions and international agencies have failed, keeping communities alive amid famine and displacement.
Why now: Nobel Peace Prize nomination season puts overlooked humanitarian efforts in the spotlight, and Sudan's war has drawn renewed attention to local volunteer responders.
