Eritrean troops have deployed in Ethiopia's Tigray region, intervening in the renewed conflict between Ethiopia's federal forces and the TPLF. Reports say the cross-border movement is escalating tensions and raising fears of a wider regional war in the Horn of Africa, reviving memories of the devastating two-year war that ended with the 2022 Pretoria peace agreement.

Why now: The deployment threatens to reignite a wider war in the Horn of Africa just as conflict between federal forces and Tigray flares up again.
