School board candidates in San Luis Obispo County sent political questionnaires
Original: Lucia Mar and San Luis Coastal candidates receive political questionnaires from church and local committee
Candidates running for the Lucia Mar and San Luis Coastal school boards have received political questionnaires from a local church and a county political committee. The questionnaires are being used to gauge candidates' positions ahead of the school board elections, a common practice but one drawing attention when religious and political groups participate in vetting candidates for nonpartisan education seats.
Why now: The involvement of a church and a political committee in screening candidates for nonpartisan school board races is raising questions locally.
