Telnet BBS Guide keeps retro dial-up boards alive
Original: Telnet BBS Guide
A directory cataloguing hundreds of bulletin board systems still reachable over the internet via Telnet has drawn attention online. The guide lists active BBSes, offering connection details and descriptions so users can revisit text-based communities, door games and file areas from the pre-web era. Enthusiasts say the sites survive thanks to hobbyists keeping the software running, and newcomers are often surprised how much activity remains decades after dial-up modems disappeared.
Why now: Nostalgia and curiosity about retro computing communities that are still running draw fresh attention to a niche but active hobby.
