Voters Back Refugee Program, Oppose Immigration Enforcement
Original: Voters Continue to Back the U.S. Refugee Program While Opposing Current U.S. Immigration Enforcement Policies
Polling by Data For Progress indicates American voters continue to support the U.S. refugee admissions program while opposing current immigration enforcement policies. The findings suggest a split in public opinion: backing for humanitarian resettlement of refugees remains steady, even as respondents reject the enforcement tactics being used by the government. The results add to ongoing debate over how U.S. immigration policy balances security operations with humanitarian commitments.
Why now: Immigration policy and enforcement remain politically contentious, and new polling data on voter attitudes is drawing attention.
