Children trapped in Trump's immigration enforcement crackdown
Original: ‘Chaos and cruelty’: the kids trapped in Trump’s immigration enforcement campaign
The Guardian reports that children are being detained in record numbers under the Trump administration's immigration enforcement campaign, sometimes held alone in facilities where lawyers and family members cannot locate them. Advocates describe a system marked by chaos and cruelty, with concerns growing over the welfare and legal rights of minors caught up in mass detention operations.
Why now: Renewed attention to the Trump administration's immigration enforcement and its impact on detained children.
