A developer has released MakeSBS3D, a Mac application that converts ripped 3D Blu-ray movies into side-by-side format for viewing on Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro headsets. After a period of beta testing, the app is now publicly available. It targets a gap in the workflow for owners of 3D film collections who want to watch them in VR rather than on televisions.

Why now: Interest in watching personal 3D movie collections on VR headsets, where no official Blu-ray playback option exists.
