Michelle Obama's White House remarks read as swipe at Trump

Michelle Obama, in a new essay reflecting on past White House remodels and praising renovations associated with figures like Jackie Kennedy, is seen in the New York Times piece as taking a veiled aim at Donald Trump. Commenters are weighing whether her history-framed praise amounts to implicit criticism of the current president's changes to the residence.

Why now: The former first lady's pointed framing of White House renovation history is being read as an implicit jab at Trump's own alterations.
