Democrats questioned over courting Bill Maher
Original: I say it often: Why Democrats would waste their time with this guy is beyond me. # Politics # Democrats # Democracy # US
A Nation article examining a perceived double standard between Bill Maher and Hasan Piker has sparked debate over why Democrats would engage with Maher at all. Commenters argue the party gains nothing from courting the comedian, who frequently criticises the left, while progressives like Piker are treated far more harshly by mainstream media and party figures.
Why now: A new Nation article on the party's double standard toward Maher versus left-wing voices is prompting Democrats' supporters to question the strategy.
