Original: La decisión sorpresa de las autoridades puso fin a los centros de datos de Google - Yle estaba investigando lo que pasó.
A surprise decision by Finnish authorities has brought Google's data centre project in Kajaani to a halt. Finnish public broadcaster Yle investigated what happened, reporting on the environmental impact assessment issues in Northern Ostrobothnia that led to the decision. The move raises questions about the future of large server investments in the region and their energy and environmental footprint.
Why now: Google's data centre plans in Kajaani being stopped by an unexpected regulatory decision is a significant development in the debate over data centres' energy and environmental impact.
