Italian commentator celebrates triggering the Habsburg collapse
Original: I'm sorry, but the decrepit Habsburgs are gone, yes we triggered its collapse, and we are proud of it
An Italian commentator is proudly claiming credit for the collapse of the Habsburg empire, dismissing the old dynasty as decrepit and gone. The remark frames Austria-Hungary's disintegration as something Italians deliberately brought about and should take pride in, reviving long-running nationalist rhetoric about Italy's role in ending Habsburg rule in the region after the First World War.
Why now: unclear
