Martha Kearney has a programme on BBC Sounds examining how Walter Scott's writing explored Scotland's environmental history. It looks at how the novelist incorporated ecological themes into his work, using landscapes as active components of storytelling rather than mere backdrops. Listeners and readers are highlighting the programme as a fresh angle on Scott, reframing the author of Ivanhoe and the Waverley novels as an early writer on nature and environment.
