Trump administration suspends Microsoft from green card program
Original: Trump administration is suspending Microsoft from a green card program
The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft from a green card program, according to an Associated Press report. The move, linked to the H-1B visa debate and comments by Vice President JD Vance, bars the company from a pathway used to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency. It marks an escalation in the administration's tightening of employment-based immigration and has drawn attention from tech industry watchers concerned about the impact on hiring.
Why now: A major US employer being cut off from green card sponsorship signals a significant tightening of skilled-worker immigration policy.
