Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery Goes Free Forever
Original: Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery Going ‘Free For All, Forever’
Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery is eliminating admission charges, adopting a 'free for all, forever' policy that makes its permanent collection and exhibitions accessible at no cost to all visitors. The move positions the university-affiliated museum among a growing number of American art institutions dropping entry fees to broaden access, and has drawn attention as a notable commitment to long-term public access in upstate New York.
Why now: A major regional museum permanently dropping admission fees is a significant arts access story.
