Ethiopia launches drone attack on Eritrean troops in Tigray
Original: Ethiopia launches drone attack against Eritrean troops who crossed into Tigray
Ethiopia carried out a drone strike against Eritrean troops that had crossed the border into the Tigray region, according to The Guardian. The attack marks a serious escalation between the two former allies and raises fresh concerns about the stability of the Ethiopia-Eritrea border and the fragile peace in Tigray following the region's civil war.
Why now: Eritrean troops crossing into Tigray and Ethiopia's armed response signal a potential rupture between the two governments and renewed instability in the region.
