A BBC News report circulating online quotes the White House responding to criticism of its immigration enforcement with the words "We know, we don't care." Commenters are sharing the remark with dismay, reading it as an open admission that the administration is indifferent to objections over deportations. The exchange has become shorthand in political discussion for the administration's hardline stance on immigration.
Why now: The White House's blunt dismissal of criticism over its deportation policy is being widely shared and debated.
