The Nigeria Police Force has announced movement restrictions ahead of Saturday's governorship election in Edo State, limiting vehicular and pedestrian traffic as a security measure for the vote. The election in Benin and across the state features the ruling APC among contending parties, with political figures including Adams Oshiomhole in the spotlight. Police inspector-general Egbetokun's command says the restriction aims to prevent violence and ensure a peaceful poll.
Why now: The Edo governorship election is days away, and the security measures directly affect residents and voters.
